Reusable Nappy Demo and Sling Checks with Mel @ Hackney Central Library
Nov 15 @ 10:00 am – 12:00 pm
We have joined forces with Mel from Wrapahug Sling Library to offer the ultimate cloth nappy demo and baby wearing help session!
Every month, we meet at Hackney Central library where Esther and Joy from Nappy Ever After will tell you everything you need to know about cloth nappies. Our friendly and informal demo is for anyone who is interested to learn more about reusable nappies, whether you are an expectant parent or you are already using nappies. All welcome, no need to book!
The talk will start at 10am and last approx. 40 mins.  We will cover:
-the different kinds of reusable nappies
-the newborn stage
-washing guidance
-other local nappy initiatives.
-troubleshooting.
Joy from Nappy Ever After will tell you about the fantastic Hackney nappy laundry service and shop.
Thanks to Hackney Council and the Real Nappies for London voucher scheme, Hackney parents (pregnant or with a child under 18 months) can claim their FREE £70 nappy voucher on the day from a Hackney Council officer or online via www.realnappiesforlondon.org.uk/apply
Following the nappy demo, Mel will offer a free sling clinic with fit checks for your own sling or try 1 of Mel’s (you must contact Mel in advance to request a particular sling, as time is limited to 1 only).  Mel can:
– Show you how to do a front, hip or facing out carry (I do not show back carries to beginners unless you’ve already tried)
– Explain safety and positioning
– Check if your sling fits you and your baby well and suggest adjustments if needed
– Show how to feed in your sling
– Answer your questions or address your worries.
Fit checks are 10mins per person, no more, so I can help everybody.
You might be paired up with other people if you all need to same kind of support.
If I can’t improve the fit of your sling or we find that it isn’t safe, I will suggest booking an appt at the Bethnal Green sling library.
Please contact Mel directly ahead of the clinic so she knows you are coming and what sling you have.
The sling clinic is free, but you are very welcome to make a donation to the sling library via Mel’s ‘Buy Me a Coffee’ link. The sessions run monthly during term-time only. (No event in August)
Timings: 10am-11am: Reusable nappy demo with Q&A
From (approx.) 11am -12: the sling clinic will start just after the cloth nappy demo around 11am. Please arrive by 11.30am, if nobody has arrived by then, Mel will leave.
