Hello and welcome to new subscribers! Thank you to all the lovely people who came to our demo last month at our new venue in Dalston CLR James Library, and to our meet, give and take event. It’s always lovely to see familiar faces return and nab some freebies! This month, our focus is to get organised and enlist the help of more local volunteers, partly because we love meeting others who also love spreading cloth nappy love, and partly because we can use the help, as I am expecting another little one before the year is out. ?

Reusable Nappy Demo & Newborn Sling Demo:
Friday 7th October, 10am – 12

Dalston CLR James Library, Dalston Square, E8 3BQ

Our reusable nappy demo starts at 10am. You will find us straight ahead inside the main entrance of the library, in front of the Dalston Library of Things.

Find out all you need to know about reusable nappies. Our demo will cover:
-the different kinds of cloth nappies.
-new born nappies -top tips.
-washing guidance.
-local nappy services.
-money saving advice.

Joy from Nappy Ever After will be with us to explain the nappy laundry service, and will have some sample stock from the shop to check out too.

Hackney residents (with proof of ID, address and pregnancy or birth) can claim a £54 voucher. It’s also really easy to claim online.

Newborn Sling Demo with Q&A from 11am with Mel from Wrap a Hug Sling Library Perfect if you are expecting or already have a newborn and want to get some general tips or specific help. Come along to this FREE local event to find out more about how you can save money and reduce your impact. There will be a huge range of family-friendly activities and services available, showcasing sustainable action in Hackney, including:

• Food, drinks, and face painting too!

VOLUNTEER WITH US!

We are ALWAYS happy to hear from anyone who has an hour or two spare to help out at Hackney Nappy Network HQ or events. Any volunteering comes without any commitment, even if just for one event, all help is appreciated. Here are some of the ways you could get involved:

We’d love some volunteers to help out at the reusable nappy stall at Hackney Council’s Sustainability day on October 23rd. Hilary from Nappy Ever After will be taking charge but could use some help! Get in touch with us if you can spare an hour or two between 10 and 3pm.

?If you ever wonder why we have so few decent photos of us in action it’s because we’re a: usually too busy doing what we do, and b: not exactly great at it anyway ? Even if you’re not a pro, if you are able to come to any of our events to get some decent shots we’d be so grateful in this world of social media where visuals are everything!

Our Meet, Give and Take events are always pretty busy and we can always use extra help, whether it’s meeting and greeting, sorting donations (clothing or nappies), or giving reusable nappy advice. No experience or nappy expertise necessary! If you are happy to be a friendly welcoming face, we’re happy to have you.

If you are a design wizard, we are gearing up to produce some new printed materials and would love any publishing/design help.
